PostaDVD is one of the smaller DVD rental companies out there with only 35,000 titles, but that shouldn’t deter you. They are great when used for cycling through free trials, when you’ve used up all of the top companies. Plus they are cheaper at the top end, charging only £13.75 for the 3 disc unlimited deal. The reason why they appear more expensive on the lower packages, is because all of their deals are unlimited.

The free trials offered by PostaDVD last for 14 days (two weeks) and have to be canceled online via your account options as they do not have phone support. I some cases this is simpler and you don’t have to listen to a rep try a con you back in to a subscription. The trial works with both DVDs and Game interchangeably, they don’t make a distinction between the two. Once signed up you can get games and DVDs when you like.

PostaDVD’s website keeps up with industry standards, allowing you to browse via genre, category lists (such as “100 Greatest Films”, “Want To Laugh”, or “Oscar Winning”) and also via the editor’s top picks. On top of this they use an advanced search system, letting you get the exact movie you want without having to go through pages of catalog. One feature that no other company has is their “Loyalty Points” scheme, which you an earn simply be returning DVDs or writing a review on their website. Once you get a certain number of points you can cash them in for rental credit.

It must be noted that due to PostaDVD’s “mom and pop” operation, they do not keep up with the larger companies in terms of latest releases, and they also don’t stock next generation games for the 360 or PS3. That being said, if used at the latter end of a free trial cycle, or just so you can re-watch some classics, PostaDVD is a fine service.

They send out their discs in a secure plastic case (sometimes a sleeve), inside a regular brown envelope, and include a prepaid return envelope, which is standard. Unlike other services they tend to send them second class, meaning a day or so extra wait. If you should have trouble with an order, email their support at, support@postadvd.com, and they’ll usually reply within 24 hours.

Here are their packages in more details, (remember allow time to send all the discs back before canceling the trial):

2 Rentals at a time, Unlimited Rentals per month, £11.75, (£129.25 per year)
